The Journey of the Dragon Dojo Chapter One: The Beginning Saphira was a great blue dragon traveling the land to look for her dragon friends, Eirador and Galzerth. To do this, she needed some creatures to help her. Most of them didn’t believe her, but the dragon continued to make her journey from town to town. On the seventh day of September, Saphira soared across the sky to the small village of Venice, Italy. Only fourteen families lived there. She told herself that it might be easy to explain to the townsfolk here since it was such a small group. Thus, the big blue dragon flew on to another town. “A whole day’s flight,” Saphira hummed softly to herself, “until Venice.” She was greatly looking forward to visiting the small place. It said that there was a strange beast that lived in a long-forgotten temple on the outskirts of the village. As she flew along, casually flapping her wings to stay air-born, Saphira laughed at the thought of a beast more terrifying than her. Many creatures flee from the sight of a giant dragon landing in the heart of their town. Hovering now, Saphira spotted a small clearing with a few animals scurrying around. She decided to land herself a length from the town so she wouldn’t petrify the poor animals. Sapphire plummeted down to earth with a pound. Then she set for the rest of the journey on foot.

Chapter Two: The Arrival A half an hour later, Saphira reached Venice. She was a slow walker, but flew very fast. All of the present animal gazed upon her, and did not flee. All was well for now. Saphira walked gracefully to the center of the market place where gradually all of the inhabitants appeared. She glimpsed around and caught sight of a large, brown figure. It was much larger than the rest of the animals which were rodents like squirrels, mice, and hedgehogs. Many of the townsfolk seemed to be a great distance from him. As the dragon made her way through the crowd, she felt sorrowful to the wolf that was being neglected. Saphira herself was mostly ignored by creatures that had a fear of being eaten. Saphira turned her attention back toward the crowed that surrounded her and slowly began to tell the speech she told many times before. “I am terribly sorry to invade your home, but I come to ask for help.” She paused slightly, “I am here to ask of you for your alliance.” Saphira stopped to let some comments through. There was a little muttering. She heard a raccoon telling her to continue. So Saphira continued. “I come to ask you to join me in the search for two missing dragons.” This is where things always went bad. Sapphire never got any recruits. In every place she visited, all the members seemed to think she was hunting them. Saphira lowered her long neck so she stared at the ground in front of her. The dragon heard uproars from the crowd yelling “You just want to eat us!” At this, all of the rodents scattered away with their families so only the brown wolf remained, still staring up at the blue dragon in front of him.

Chapter Three: A New Friend “I believe you,” spoke a deep, raspy voice that came from the hairy, brown wolf. He crept slightly forward so he was inches away from Saphira's giant wings. Saphira raised her head so they looked into each other’s eyes. “I am willing to join you,” he said simply. Saphira straightened her neck and held her head high in the air. “I am pleased to hear you will be joining me. I am Saphira, frost dragon of the Dragon Dojo. Our goal is to reach that place.” She looked down, “I just can’t seem to get in. You see, there is a statue of our great hero, Draik, which senses the presence of a dragon. It just won’t let me through.” “Well,” the wolf started, “I’m Remus, and… no one likes me here because they’re afraid I’d eat ‘em” Remus's head lowered and tail drooped. Saphira smiled sweetly and lowered her body so Remus could climb on her back. He looked at Saphira with a puzzled look on his face. “What are you doing?” Remus asked. Saphira unfolded her wings and they raised high in the air. Getting the hint, Remus attempted to climb on to the dragon’s neck. His foot began to slip, but Remus dug his long, black claws into the scales of Sapphire, and pulled himself upright. “You might want to hold on to my spikes, I’m a speedy flyer,” Saphira warned. Remus gazed at the long trail of spike down the dragon’s back. He decided on a position where he stood up with his front paws between two long spikes where her neck was attached to her body, and his back legs rested on the joints of her wings.

Chapter Four: The Flight With one great flap of Saphira’s wings, they were against the sky. But in that flap, Remus lost his grip. He let out a terrified howl. The two were up about seven yards. Saphira turned her neck and made a sound that was a cross between a hiss and a growl. The dragon dived down and grabbed the falling wolf around the middle with her razor-sharp talons. Changing the position of her wings, they headed upward. Saphira raised her arm to let Remus up to her back. She roared at him, “You need to hold on better!” Remus nodded even though Saphira couldn’t see him. Making sure to clutch tightly, Remus returned to his original position.

Chapter Five: The Dragon Dojo A couple days passed as the team set off for the Dragon Dojo. Remus was used to flying now and was snoozing peacefully on Saphira’s back. Saphira was waving her head back and forth seeking the statue that symbolizes the Dragon Dojo. Saphira suddenly dived and Remus awoke. Startled, he grabbed the blue dragon’s spikes so hard he cut the pads on his paws. With a pound, the two dropped in front of the statue. Saphira was studying it. As she stared at it, Saphira explained to Remus, “This statue is the entrance to the Dragon Dojo. I should be able to see a dragon. You can’t because you are not a dragon.” Remus glared at Saphira with a sarcastic look on his face. She stepped up to the platform in with the statue was sitting upon. Saphira lowered her head to the feet of it, and opened her mouth widely. A jet stream of light blue fire shot out of Saphira's mouth. Remus almost jumped out of his fur. "All dragons breathe fire," Saphira mentioned, "It just so happens I breathe blue fire, the hottest of all fire." A small dome-like building appeared behind the statue of Draik. It was made out of white marble, and had a round, golden door in the front. Saphira walked over to the door with Remus quietly behind her. The dragon stared at a silver circle in the middle of the golden door without blinking. She made a strange hissing noise and door seemed to get sucked up into the silver circle that was now floating in its place. Saphira and Remus walked quickly inside before the door poured out of the silver circle.
